Dogs
All dogs at minimum are spayed or neutered, vaccinated against Distemper/Parvovirus and Bordatella (kennel cough), heartworm tested and/or started on heartworm preventative depending on age, microchipped, treated for fleas/ticks, and have their first set of dewormer’s. To help start things off as best we can, we require every member of the family, including canine members and anyone else who is regularly at the house, to meet the dog before we send it on its way. Hey, what can we say? We love them all, too!

Cats
Not every member of the family needs to meet a cat before going home. We strongly encourage young children to meet cats ahead of time, and we require that if you still live at home with your parents, you bring mom or dad in for a meet and greet too. Of course, it just makes sense to check with other family members, roommates, and your landlord before adding to the household. (There’s nothing like a surprise meow when you’re not expecting it.) Also, if you express an interest in declawing, our adoption counselors will discuss alternatives to declawing with you including Soft Paw claw caps and adopting an already declawed cat instead. If after this conversation, you still wish to declaw your new addition, we will decline your application to adopt.

*Offsite Cat Adoption Fees are slightly higher due to the additional testing that these cats receive. These cats are all tested for FIV/FeLV prior to their adoption. This test is also something that adopters can opt for when adopting at our main shelter location for the same fee.
