Spay & Neuter Services

The Humane Society of Southern Wisconsin is happy to offer low-cost spay and neuter services to the community as well as other surgical services. Please keep in mind these services are by appointment only and we have limited available slots.

We release all appointment slots at 12pm on the third Monday of the current month for the following month. For example, we will release all December appointment slots on November 18th at 12pm. Keep an eye on our website and Facebook page for appointment opening announcements.

If you have made an appointment, but now need to cancel for any reason, please contact our Surgery Team via email at surgery@petsgohome.org or via text at 608-618-2679. If you are unable to email or text, you may call the shelter at 608-752-5622 ext. 110. Please be advised that email or text will yield a faster response time than a phone call.

How to Schedule An Appointment

*At 12pm on the 3rd Monday of each month, we open all appointment slots for the following month*

• To schedule a routine spay or a neuter appointment, please click the ‘Schedule‘ button below.
• To schedule any other surgical services, please contact our Surgery Team via email at surgery@petsgohome.org or via text at 608-618-2679. If you are unable to email or text, you may call the shelter at 608-752-5622 ext. 110. Please be advised that email or text will yield a faster response time than a phone call.
• When scheduling your appointment online, if you do not see any open timeslots to schedule your appointment, we are fully booked.
• If we are fully booked, please check back on the 3rd Monday of the month at 12pm and/or keep an eye on our Facebook page for appointment opening announcements.
• When scheduling your appointment, you will be charged a $51.70 deposit ($49+tax) for cat spay/neuter or a $97.06 deposit ($92+tax) for a dog spay/neuter. This deposit will be deducted from your total at the time of checkout. This price includes tax and the deposit is non-refundable.
• If you need to cancel your appointment for any reason, please contact our Surgery Team at surgery@petsgohome.org or call the shelter at 608-752-5622 ext. 110. Email is preferred.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

• Drop-off will typically be at 8am unless stated otherwise in your confirmation email.
• When you arrive for your appointment, cats MUST be in carriers and dogs MUST be on leash (NOT a retractable leash).
• A surgical assistant will check your pet in and go over any paperwork and pertinent information with you.
• At drop-off, you will also select a pick-up time with one of our surgical assistants.
• After all check-in business is squared away, we will take your pet back to our surgery suite for their procedure. They will remain in our surgery suite for their procedure and recovery until your selected pick-up time.
• If your dog is fearful at drop-off, we will ask that you stay at HSSW with your dog until 9am so that we are able to safely transfer them to the surgery suite with the help of our veterinarian and CVT.

*We accept Cash and Visa, Mastercard, and Discover. Please note that a $3.00 processing fee will be applied to all transactions paid for via credit/debit card.*

Spay & Neuter

Cat Spay/Neuter – $98
Includes spay/neuter surgery, nail trim, ear cleaning, and long-acting pain medication.

Dog Spay/Neuter – $184
Includes spay/neuter surgery, nail trim, ear cleaning, and take-home pain medication.

Additional Spay & Neuter Fees

Large Dog Fee – $58
Additional fee charged for dogs between 80-90lbs.

Extra Large Dog Fee – $115
Additional fee charged for dogs between 90-100lbs.

Extra-Extra Large Dog Fee – $173
Additional fee charged for dogs 100lbs or larger.

Complex Surgery Fee – $86
Additional fee charged for pets with complex anatomy/complicated surgeries.
